This is still a work in progress but below are images from my ill-fated December 2010 trip to Atlanta and Mill Pond, a plantation located in southern Georgia near the Florida border. On this trip I tried to capture the unexpected moments and unusual and somewhat absurd decadence of this early 20th century plantation and the ritual of the quail hunt (I've included only a couple of these photographs). The grounds include a 9800 acre forested area for quail hunting accessible by horse; stables, dog pens, 11 bedrooms, a 100x100 courtyard beneath a glass pyramid, chicken/hen coop, and fully staffed dinning area. This world was and is completely foreign to me as I was a guest and as such I hope the images provide a glimpse of this excess...
